  More recently in April 2025 Samsung Display have contacted us to correct a point about the new 27″ 500Hz panel. They’ve confirmed now that this particular panel does not actually use EL 3.0 material and is officially therefore an update to their Gen 3 panel from last year (27″ 360Hz version). It still uses EL 2.0 but updates have been made to the driving circuit to allow for an increased refresh rate, and to the organic material that have enabled a higher brightness to be achieved. We have now updated this article to reflect these corrections and the naming schemes for each panel.
