  "If you get an "Access Denied" error make sure you have administrator permissions. If you are an admin and you still can't block the file, go to the General tab in Avira's settings (Extras > Configuration - or - hit F8)(make sure you have enabled "Expert Mode") and click on Security. Uncheck Protect Windows hosts files from changes and Protect files and registry entries from manipulation. Now you can edit the security properties of avnotify.exe. Remember to reactivate those Avira's security settings to prevent a future antivirus failure.
