    The point being that the first two immunizations were so closely spaced apart they were like a "primary" immunization. We needed to do that schedule in order to get virus neutralizing antibodies into at risk people to save lives, but for durable, long lasting immunity
    we need the third immunization. That's why I felt we would always require that third immunization. The hope is that with this one, we're done for a while and won't need to do annual boosters, etc.
    Also should be pointed out that the graph is a very rough approximation. Adaptive immunity does not go down to zero with the first 2 mRNA immunizations, still robust immune responses, but this shows the potential benefits of a 3rd immunization
    Also, many vaccines are at least 3 immunizations, for example diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae b, polio, etc so this is not at all unusual
