Közel egy évvel ezelőtt, tavaly áprilisban debütált a mozikban a The Super Mario Bros. Movie című animációs film, amely hatalmas siker lett világszerte, így csak idő kérdése volt, hogy mikor jelentik be a folytatást. Erre egészen mostanáig kellett várni, Mijamoto Sigeru elárulta, hogy a Nintendo és az Illumination már dolgoznak az új filmen, amelyhez premier dátumot is kaptunk. Ha minden jól alakul akkor 2026. április 3-án végre láthatjuk az új animációs filmet amelyhez egyelőre pontos címet nem kaptunk és a története sem ismert.
