  Na akkor pár tény miért is nem kell többek közt az NV-nek összecsinálnia magát , amikről hatalmasakat hallgat a cikk :

  "Vulkan is a significant Khronos initiative to provide developers the choice of a state-of-the-art GPU API that is open and portable across multiple platforms, at a time where platform diversity is increasing,' claimed Neil Trevett, president of the Khronos Group and vice president at Nvidia, of the announcement."

  Ugye érdekes, hogy ki a Khronos Group elnöke...az Nvidiánál alelnök. Ez azért lehet, mert a Khronos Group vezető boardjának tagja többek közt az NV. Ennek a boardnak van joga áment mondani egy apira.

  Annak következménye, hogy a Vulkán létrehozásának nem az AMD volt a fő célpontja:

  "In fact Khronos has confirmed that AMD has contributed Mantle towards the development of Vulkan, and though we need to be clear that Vulkan is not Mantle, Mantle was used to bootstrap the process and speed its development, making Vulkan a derivation of sorts of Mantle (think Unix family tree). What has changed from Mantle is that Khronos has gone through a period of refinement, keeping what worked in Vulcan and (B)throwing out portions of Mantle that didn’t work well – particularly HLSL and anything that would prevent the API from being cross-vendor – replacing it with the other necessary/better functionality"

  Ezek alapján, annyira azért nem kell sem az Intelnek, sem az NVidiának összecsinálnia magát. Direkt kidobott olyanokat az apiból a Khoronos, ami a többi gyártót korlátozná a használatban.

  A fentieknek megfelelően pedig:

  "Both AMD and Nvidia are involved in the development of Vulkan and have pledged to implement the API on their respective graphics hardware, but the Khronos Group has yet to offer a firm timescale for a public release beyond promising a specification and reference implementation 'later this year."

  Kár, hogy cikk iszonyatosan ki lett hegyezve az AMD-re, és azt sugallja jajj mi lesz a konkurenciával.
