    így működik

The Soundbug works slightly differently. Instead of a pair of magnets, it includes a tiny sample of a material called Terfenol-D. Terfenol-D was developed by the US Military for use in sonar equipment, and is a metal-crystalline structure. The Terfenol-D sample is subjected to a magnetic field, based on the electrical impulses that represent the sound, which causes it to expand and contract rapidly and dramatically. That expansion and contraction is picked up by the rubber of the suction cup and transferred to the surface to which it is attached, which causes the surface to vibrate in a set pattern, effectively using the surface as a sounding board instead of a paper cone. Wave Industries has applied for several patents on the technology, and a friendly raised-text message on the rim of the suction cup serves to remind ''multiple worldwide patents pending''.

Mi ebben a furcsa?
