    Latest Specifications of Intel's GMA X3000, 3000 IGPs - [link]
    Some details on the final specifications of the integrated graphic processors (IGP) Intel plans to integrate to its upcoming G965 and Q965 Express chipsets have emerged. With this latest information we can draw a more complete picture of the GMA X3000 and the GMA 3000 IGPs.

    The G965 Express will receive the Direct3D 10-, Direct3D 9c- and OpenGL 1.5-compliant GMA X3000 IGP:

    * Core running at 667MHz
    * Capable of sharing up to 384MB of system RAM
    * Unified Shader Architecture
    * Programmable Shader Model 4.0 (3.0 at launch)
    * Floating point blending and filtering
    * Intel Clear Video technology (HD MPEG-2 and VC-1)

    It's still unclear, for the moment, whether the ROP hardware is capable of any sort of multisample AA or not. Echoes from different sources point that the actual graphical performance of the first revisions of the G965 Express might be slower than GMA 950 in certain scenarios. With a second revision likely on the cards before release day, it seems most will wait for that before making a judgement based on performance.

    The second chipset, Q965 Express, will be the host of the less specced, Direct3D 9c and OpenGL 1.4+ compliant, GMA 3000 IGP. Specification looks to be identical to the old GMA 950, with the GMA 3000 running at 667MHz versus the 400MHz of old. Like GMA 950 it can accelerate the Aero Glass UI in Windows Vista. Further information on GMA X3000 is available in Intel's associated PDF.
