Ezt a levelet kaptam a Mozillától:

A new age for extension development
Last November, Firefox Quantum launched to critical and popular acclaim. Boasting faster performance speeds and a shiny new UI, Quantum also ushered in the beginning of a new era for creating extensions for multiple browsers.

After spending the last two years modernizing Firefox’s extension technology, we are now focused on improving and expanding the API. With these new and enhanced tools, you can offer even more powerful features to users who are looking for more ways to customize their browsers.

Let’s go forth and build awesome extensions.

    New & enhanced WebExtensions APIs
Several new and enhanced APIs are currently available on Firefox Developer Edition and will land in release with Firefox 59 on March 13, 2018. With these updates, you will be able to:

Do more with tabs! Options for opening bookmarks or search results in new tabs, capturing any tab, and even an experimental API for tab hiding are available in Firefox 59.
Override the browser's proxy settings in a variety of fun and interesting ways.
Fine-tune browserAction and pageAction features, including automatic hiding/showing of a pageAction via pattern matching and removing certain properties from browserAction by setting a null value.
Offer more customizations to Firefox's appearance with additions to the Themes API.

See the Add-ons Blog for more APIs and enhancements coming in Firefox 59.

Tools for testing extensions on Android
web-ext, Mozilla’s command line tool for extension development, now supports testing Firefox extensions for Android! See it in action or try it yourself:

    Establishing trust with your users
With the adoption of the WebExtensions API, we implemented a new feature to help users make informed decisions about the extensions they install. During an extension's installation, Firefox shows a message that explains what permissions it uses.

Because this is a relatively new feature, some users may not be sure why your extension requests certain permissions, and decide to back out of the installation process. While we provide overviews of what these permissions messages mean and how to judge if they're appropriate, you can also take steps to reduce the likelihood of a user abandoning the installation of your extension by doing the following:

Make sure you aren't requesting unnecessary permissions.
Have your extension request permissions at runtime, which enables you to ask for the permissions in context.
Describe why your extension needs its permissions in your AMO description.

More information about how you can establish user confidence is available on the Add-ons Blog and on MDN web docs.

    Upcoming Changes

ESR 52 is the last release that will support legacy extensions. When ESR 52 is discontinued on August 21, 2018, legacy extensions will be removed from addons.mozilla.org.
Support for unpacked extensions will be removed with the release of Firefox 62. For more information, see this post on the Add-ons Blog.
Beginning September 2, 2018, addons.mozilla.org will stop accepting new submissions that use jQuery 2.x. If you use jQuery 2.x, please upgrade to jQuery 3.0 as soon as possible.

    A kiemelés tőlem van.
